Whooping Cranes

Today's sunshine treats:

Pink blushing grasses by the wayside,

And high above,

a single whooping crane
soaring south.

Five minutes later,
his flock of nine
followed,
veering east.

I wonder if they ever found him?

Or if he'll spend the remainder of his days

alone?

Joy in getting back into Writing

Thank you, D.J. for getting me back into writing. I spent the first half of the year creating a lovely little book that I named QUIRKS OF SUCCESS, and have submitted it to Shambala Publisher. Wish me luck!

Now I'm revisiting REINS OF TIME. Back when it was published E-copy, they would only allow 100,000 words, so I had to divide the story. The book available is just the first part. The second part has been optioned twice, and both times they said they wanted it "if the viewpoints are changed." I refused. If you've ever read Stephen Erikson's Malazan Empire, you'll know why I made that decision. So that part of the story is ready to go. I'm currently running the last part of the trilogy through my writer's groups, to beef it up and make it better.

Not sure if I'll get the whole project together formally or not. Told my son I'd give him the whole thing hardcopy for Christmas. What's your opinion. Should I try again to get it all together through a publisher? Or just print it out for friends and family who have been waiting years for it?

Joy in Adopting

A month ago I lost a very dear friend, an almost 10yr old Mini-Rex bunny. Her bond-mate, Hazel & I are still grieving. But!!

10 days ago we adopted a rescue rabbit:: a 9 month old Havana, altered female, who we've re-named Jasmine. She came with a floating patella [kneecap isn't where it's supposed to be], but that means 10yr old, short-legged, overweight Hazel can keep up with her!  The vet says it can't be fixed. Doesn't keep her from bouncing on the bed!

She was soooo lonely in the shelter that she was pressing her nose between the bars. And when they took her out & put her in a room with me, she licked me. Now she nibbles too. Vet says that means she's "comfortable".

Joy in Breathing

Breathing. Sounds so simple it's stupid? Not really. Back when I worked as a nurse, I witnessed many patients on ventilators. Not where I want to be, I tell you!

Breathing is so essential, no matter what you're doing. If you're an athlete, an artist, a CEO, whatever. Knowing how to control your breathing is much more than something stupid.

I ran across this book about 18 months ago that I very much recommend, called, BREATHE INTO BEING [see link for details]. In my Transformation Of Self, it has been very helpful.

Do you want to improve your life? Take breathing seriously. Think about it frequently. Everything else will fall into place. It's amazing!

Joy in Being

Three years later...I am so much happier--and healthier.
